Is Facebook Killing The Church Cash Flow?

Social networking site Face book has been blamed for many social ills.  The latest allegation is  it's killing the church. I don't think Face book is killing the church it might be killing the church cash flow. I see the potential to use social media, twitter, face-book, etc to evangelize and have outreach events as a great idea.

This is a very interesting argument by Professor Richard Beck who's a experimental psychologist at Abilene Christian University.  He argues that the internet, and specifically the social-networking site Face book, is destroying  the sense of community that people have typically obtained via church membership.  I do believe the church going experience is more social, for young people than for others. I also agree there are lots of societal benefits to church attendance such as family and community that you just don't get on Facebook.
I believe today's church  is following the path which was prophesied and  predicted by Paul. The church have enter into that 'falling away' stage and have been heading that way  for quite sometime. The institution has become it's own worst enemy as it has focused on celebrity pastors and money.

What do you think?  Do online social networks serve the same social purpose as church for young people? Do your church have a face book page?
