How Do You See Jesus?

 How do you see Jesus?.... JESUS has/have  been translated  into all kinds of things: My help in time of need!  My bridge over trouble waters! My lawyer in a court room! My doctor in a sick room, etc....We have to  remember, people have seen Jesus as Black, Brown,Yellow--and even Blue-eyed with  blonde hair....Are any of them more correct than Elton's view?... I really believe that people  conceptualize Jesus to help them understand and grasp who HE   is....Therefore, in the case of Elton John, I really believe that's what he was doing....However I think he is going  have a  hard time "proving" in the Scriptures that Jesus was GAY...In Elton John interview with Parade magazine the singer talked about a lot of things including Jesus being gay.... "He said “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems"...So the question becomes, Who is Jesus Christ, really?Is Jesus Christ only love? I mean, not according to man’s opinion, but according to the truth of God’s Word.... Yes! Jesus is  loving....But,  is that His only attribute? No, for just as Jesus is love, so also is Jesus holy and righteous.... And we must know and understand that Jesus Christ, the Holy and Righteous God, must and will punish all lost sinners at the judgment....If our Jesus is not greatly to be feared as well as greatly to be praised, then perhaps we  have another Jesus, a Jesus of our own making, and not the Jesus of the Bible...Again how do you see Jesus?

Honoring Some Great Men Of The Black Community.

There will be a  "Living Legends Educating 365" reception and concert....For the Rev. Michael Pfleger,The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr....These great men will be honored for their work in the African-American community....Also Dr. Wright releases  his new book February 25, 2010, titled, "A Sankofa Moment" It's about  the history of Trinity United Church of Christ." In which the book details  the 48-year history of the Trinity United Church of Christ.... With a major emphasis on the building of the largest United Church of Christ congregation within the denomination...The also tells how it developed several ministries and several entities under the pastorate of Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright jr....I know there are many people who don't have any  love for either of the men  that will be honored....BUT I DO! ....To a greater degree Dr. Jeremiah Wright....No matter what one may think of him, he has to be given some credit.... Being  he is the first Black pastor of a historically Black church who has produced a president of the United States.Rev. Wright  warned America that "Barack Obama is a politician," and that he "ain't Jesus".Get the book here!

Lazy Parenting!

25 percent of parents responding to a recent survey say they don't discipline their children for bad behavior because they want "an easy life."A  study, reported by the U.K.'s Daily Mail, says three in 10 adults admit to being a "pushover" when it comes to their kids, and more than half see themselves as more of a friend than a parent, saying they'd rather talk things out than dish out punishments....This  is what happens when the family unit starts to fall apart....Discipline is not a bad thing! If we don't discipline our kids, then our kids don't discipline their kids and so on. We end up with a society of dependents who have no sense of self worth or responsibilities.

Kirk Franklin Bowing Down Before Mo'Nique.

Something wrong with  this picture!This is a picture  of  Kirk Franklin bowing to Mon'Nique on her show early in the month....The stance and position Kirk takes here  is kinda of disturbing for me as a Christian....Why did Kirk  enter the stage....Go down on one knee.....bowing his head and raising his hands together as if in prayer to Mon'Nique?  Why did he feel the need to do this?  Is he making  a mockery of the Lord?
 The Bible says friendship with the world is enmity with God.... If we dont respect the God that we claim to serve neither will others...Check out this great post!

Dr.Juanita Bynum Reveals Church Membership Up To 500 In Just 3 Weeks.

Juanita Bynum II said  in one of her sermons  that The Wearhouse is not a church but " IT'S A MOVEMENT" I am asking  when did Juanita leave behind  the church? Was it before or after that situation?Do we need another movement? What the purpose of a new movement? What kinda of movement do she have in mind?  I understand that God can  use her to deliver people....But that don't  mean that Satan is not influencing her.... Nor do it mean she's  immune to him or his demonic spirits... Alot of  men /women  have been lured away by Satan and his spirits and they have/are perverting the word for their own gain.

Soledad O'Brien Next Black In America: The Black Church And Faith.

There's  talk that Soledad O'Brien next black in America will deal with  "The Black Church and Faith"...Faith is a strong leading  force in the lives of many African Americans...And for that reason alone I am hoping Ms.O'Brien the best...Lord! I don't no what Ms.O'Brien  is getting her self into messing with black folks and faith....Any way, Black in America 1 drew fire from many, as some thought the program showcased negative stereotypes of black life in an attempt to score ratings....Some  believed CNN exploited African-American's  and helped feed into the unsavory image of minorities in this country.   First thing first! All Black churches are not alike ....They are as different as the communities  they are located  in....When I speak of the "Black Church" I am speaking of   the church that was  instrumental in building  my faith....and at the same time instill in me hope to hang on in there...That's the Black Church that I love and support....Again, I grew up in the black church and have always been a part of it...But within the construct of the black church there's  a variety of church denominations.... For one "The  Church of God in Christ" (COGIC)Which  is the largest African American church in America...It's  the largest Pentecostal and denominational  church in the United States...I hope The Black Church is not exploited for rating.

The Gospel According To Singles!

When I saw the flier to the left I was total  surprise...I believe the Bible never  mention dating but it do mention betrothal ( a promise to marry) The Bible also has alot to say about lust...All us  Christians no one thing to be clear... we should not have sexual intercourse before marriage.... One passage which mentions this is where Apostle Paul wrote in Corinthians 6:19-20: “You are not your own; you were bought at a price.... Therefore honor God with your body.” I guess my next question is why do the body of Christ need a conference for every thing under the sun? Is not the Bible the final authority for all Christians? The Bible instruct us to  flee lust ( RUN )... So what can a single conference teach that the Bible has not already outline?

Ash Wednesday

The season of Lent begins today  Ash Wednesday.... Lent commemorates the final weeks leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, and many Christians mark the season with a spiritual commitment or by giving up a habit or behavior for the duration of Lent....Some examples of Lent commitments giving up television, reading through a particular part of the Bible, volunteering at a local food kitchen, and many others....What ever you decide to give up the...point of   such a commitment is to focus attention on the person of Jesus Christ....Are you giving  up  anything to commemorate Lent this year?I am giving up sweets!

Billboard Says Black Children Are Endangered Species!

 Anti-abortion billboards around Atlanta are causing a stir for their claim... that African-American women get a disproportionate amount of abortions compared to other women, reports the Atlanta Journal New ads featuring a young black child are popping up around the Atlanta Metro area… According to FOXNEWS.com the Billboards are an effort by the anti-abortion movement to use race to rally support within the black community. The reaction from black leaders has been mixed, but the “Too Many Aborted” campaign, which so far is unique to only Georgia, is drawing support from other anti-abortion groups across the country. The effort is sponsored by Georgia Right to Life, which also is pushing legislation that aims to ban abortions based on race. Some say that the language in the billboard is using messages of fear and shame to target women of color. What do you think?...What if  they would have put a picture of a black father on that billboard instead of a child?They seem to be even more difficult to come by than the kids. Do you agree with the billboard message?

God Never Purpose Man To Give Birth!!!!

The world's second pregnant man is expecting a baby boy sometime this month or next....When i read that headline I said to my self that's the biggest lie every told on God....It's misinformation  because  this person is NOT A MAN!!!!!..This is a woman who underwent  surgery (although not fully as evidenced by the pregnancy)...Also by claiming that "a man is pregnant"the media is perpetrating a lie as opposed to conveying true information...I don't care about the couples  sex life nor what they have decided to do....I do care that it is not being reported correctly and will lead some to the wrong conclusion of what is possible.

I get tired of  the media saying "pregnant man". No matter what this person looks like on the outside this is a She! If you have female organs you are FEMALE. While SHE may look outwardly male, and APPEAR to be male, she is still a woman biologically. This person is a pregnant woman! I find it strange  that this woman wanted to erase her outward female appearance but still wants to reproduce. Which ONLY WOMEN can do!. We have been designed by God for a purpose...God never purpose man to give birth.

Misinterpreted Scriptures

Evander Holyfield's wife claims the boxing great hit her several times after an argument about her payments to their church, and she has received a temporary protective order against him....Misinterpreted scriptures are the source of false teachings and doctrines.... When scripture is taken out of its context its original meaning changes.... Its meaning and purpose ends up being inaccurate or being in err..... Once this takes place those who are taught the inaccurate or erroneous interpretation are said to be receiving false teachings and doctrines....Misinterpreted scriptures are  results that arise from deliberately twisting  the scriptures...Because we are human and have a limited understanding...We fall prey! 

It’s Tough Being A Leader!

I Don't See Nothing Wrong!

I don't know why people are surprised.... This is Vanity Fair this magazine demographic is  white women.... not black women at all...To me Vanity Fair  idea of putting a black woman on its  magazine cover is Beyonce , Alicia Keyes or Halle Barry. Women who are already at top.... Let me  just state for the record I  don’t recall ever opening up a copy of Vanity Fair magazine in my entire life....But  I have seem plenty of them on tables  in waiting rooms...But i never felt the magazine was speaking to me,about me or for me...I always saw Vanity Fair as a white magazine....Meaning it's a magazine that cater to skinny white women ...That's why I don't understand the hoopla that going on now in our community  about this particular issue.Question are you a fan of Vanity Fair?

The Church Is Changing.

There was a time when you wouldn't dare approach the man of God with worldly ideas  like this....But some were along the way that has changed...Question: How would you react if your church suddenly replaced  it's devotional services with steppers  or  praise dancer   on Sunday morning?Would you be in agreement with such a move?

Hooping And The Black Church.

Hooping and the black church go together like a hand  in a glove..I believe  hooping is as much  a part of  the black church makeup as anything else....You can go into any Black Baptist or Pentecostal Churches on any given Sunday and here"hooping"....hooping is when the words of the preacher begins taking on a musical quality.
I have learn through my research.... that the song quality of hooping is a legacy of long-ago African griot, or storytellers...

"They memorized the history of the tribe and it was their task to teach the community," Dell said. Enslaved Africans brought that tradition to America, and free black pastors adapted it to preaching. "They had no formal education, but they preached in the style of their tradition which had a rhythmic quality to it and a feeling or emotional quality to it," Dell said.

Lil Wayne God's Will Is That You Be Saved.

Lil Wayne seems to think  his prison term is God's will for him... and everything happens for a reason..."I look at things as 'Everything is meant to be.' I know it's an experience that I need to have if God's putting me through it...First and foremost God's will, is that "ALL"have a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth”(1 Timothy 2:3-4)"It's God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men" (1 Peter 2:15).Understanding God's Word is a lifelong process, which is  never complete of course...but the pay off is the  ability it brings to choose God's will....I believe for us to lived out God's will with all its satisfaction and fruitfulness, we have to be caring  students of Scripture with a passion to understand it correctly.
God does not want anyone to end up in prison but....some times it's the  best thing for someone who's  headed in the wrong direction.

Southern Baptists Ask Obama For Help!

Leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination... you know the one that was praying for the president to die a couple of months ago...have now  asked President Obama to “do everything within the authority of his  office” to free the American missionary team charged with abduction in Haiti.

When God Says No!

I received an email in my in box the other day of a website call Pray4Trig.com... There are some folks trying to organize a worldwide day of prayer to force God to "cure" Trig Palin of Down Syndrome...By April 18 which is Trig's birthday... They are also asking individuals and congregations around the world to pray that God remove those extra chromosome that God Himself gave Trig.... The point being that when God cures Trig, it will show evidence of God's existence and power to "atheists and others who don't believe in God." However, in the event that God should fail to cure Trig, the group maintains, it won't be a measure of His existence or non-existence, it will only indicate that those praying had too little faith...Now Jesus made some very specific promises about prayer Matthew 21:21, John 14:14, Matthew 7:7 just to name a few...I believe God answers the prayers of the faithful with out any doubt...But He also knows our motive for asking....The truth is, God doesn't think like us...He sees the big picture and works toward a specific end...I also believe God wants us to live in anticipation and expectation every day...PS!!! I love that picture.

Mimicking The Old Church.

There are many religious rituals and ideas in the old black church...That have been pass down through the years from one generation to the next ...Some of these ideas and rituals don't have nothing to do with salvation but was/are important to our ancestors ...And some of those rituals might still be practice today....With that being said.... I truly believe when our ancestors came into the house of God...Their original purpose and point was to praise God in the best way they knew how....Even if it meant kneeling down in front of the congregation....To them that act alone showed they knew how to humble themselves before an All Mighty God... But, at the same time they were trying to lift up a down people...I strongly believe we should honor and respect does who came before us...I also believe respect should be shown to other religion ....Even if I don't agree with it practiced I believe respect should be shown...Now the young man in the clip below was raise in the construct of the old black church and so was I...So when I ran across his you tube channel I was total surprise at how he was able to mimicked the old church so well ...I don't know if he's expressing contempt or showing love for the church.

Do Black Pastors Have Any Influence At All?

I ask that question because according to a recent survey taken by Pastors.... Billy Graham is the most influential preacher living follow by Charles Swindoll...In a telephone interview conducted in November 2009, Protestant pastors were asked to “name the top three living Christian preachers that most influence them...21% of pastors surveyed said Graham…While Graham’s position at the top may have been expected, the list as a whole was a bit surprising for its lack of diversity ( NO BLACKS ) according to Ed Stetzer, director of LifeWay Research which is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

"Considering our sample includes liberal and conservative, all races and ethnicities, mainline and evangelical, we were surprised that the list looked like mainstream Christian radio and publishing and was not more representative," he said. "Of course, the majority who answer drive the final numbers, but I was expecting more diversity in the responses."

What I find interesting and questionable about this list is that all of the preachers are white conservative evangelical pastors except for one...I swear there's not a person in America (Christian or not) who has not heard of Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar and T.D.Jakes...I am not talking about their theology and teaching methods either.....Because if that was the case some of the ones listed would not be there....I wondering what was the survey base on...Was it the result of their television program and best-selling books...What about all the black pastors and preachers today, who have stayed faithful to preaching the truth?But are not on that list....What about Tony Evans? You can't get no more conservative than that....That's why I hate these types of list..They do nothing but reinforce that foolishness that white is right... We all probably know at least one man of God who's black...That could have been placed on a list or in a category of having influenced many people over the years...But if we listed him, no one would recognize his name...I am wondering if a company that was unaffiliated with a particular denomination were to conduct a similar survey if they would get the same results...What I also found interesting is that 2 on the list believe Mormons are Christians....Heres The complete list.

The Super Bowl And The Church.

In New Orleans, Pastor Debra Morton of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church has canceled her congregation’s monthly Sunday night communion service...Two weeks ago, hemmed in by logistics that couldn’t be changed, her congregation and its guests reoccupied their storm-damaged sanctuary in eastern New Orleans more or less as the Saints and the Vikings squared off....She made it a little easier then by providing televisions in a nearby reception area — “but I dare not challenge them again” with another conflict, she said with a laugh Tuesday....Over 130 million American adults are expected to tune into this Sunday’s NFL championship between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV... Some three quarters of all men will watch, and more than half of American women as well–numbers that many churches would love to see on any given Sunday....I believe for the church of today to fight and win we must realize what we are up against. We got to be able to look beyond the obvious and see the real! SATAN is not a joke.

John Travolta And His Love For Haiti??

How is it that John Travolta got into Haiti ahead of international aid organizations?My next question why can’t people just help to be helping?Why do it always have to be a hidden motive? I am aware that most religions think that a natural disaster is a major chance to spread what they believe .... Also it seems that each group will use the fact that they helped with aid of some kind to justify their beliefs...Look at Actor John Travolta and the Church of Scientology....They are apparently flying doctors and ministers to Haiti...It looks like they are taking advantage of the natural disaster to spread their beliefs...According to an Associated Press story, Travolta himself piloted his own Boeing 707, loaded with six tons of military rations and medical supplies to Port-au-Prince.... He brought his wife, Kelly Preston, along for the ride.

Aid groups have been desperate to fly their own planes into the over-stressed airport. U.N. humanitarian spokeswoman Elisabeth Byrs said Tuesday that at least 800 planes with relief items are on a waiting list for the airport, which can handle only about 130 flights a day due to a lack of space to park planes as they unload.

The aid group Doctors Without Borders has complained that the flight scheduling priorities of U.S. military controllers running the airport delayed the arrival of field hospitals, resulting in some deaths.
