God Has No Influence In The World.

That's according to Time magazine...For the last couple years Time magazine has  featured  it's  100 Most Influential People  issue.... Well  this years list is causing some in the faith community to scratch  their head an  wonder  "why the  lack of  faith  leaders"?.... In other words there is  not one  preachers listed as a symbol that represents  God... Not even Pope Benedict XVI  and his red shoes didn't make the list...I don't get it!  It  seems to me  if  you are head of a church the size of the Catholic Church and you got over a billion people who  look to you for guidance....Now  that's some kinda of influence in the world....I don't know how   Time determines these things but I am willing to bet most on the list  will be  forgotten by the end of the month...and the Pope will still be guiding  billion of  people .... Do a list like this reflects the  faith voices losing clout — or it’s just oversight on the part of Time editors? Now when I see a list that   Lady gaga  is on all I can say is Come-on!  She kills people in her videos! PLEASE...

  1. be careful not to forget the forgiveness and love that Christ showed to us when we were yet in sin...because His compassion is what led us to repentance and it is the only thing that can lead others to repentance. Romans 1-2
"...The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God "will give to each person according to what he has done." To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. there will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism..."

  2. Could it be that the "religious" are no longer seen as leaders because they are bringing up the rear instead of leading (by fulfilling their ministry)? Arguably, the typical religious leader in the U.S. is more interested in "betting" on political elections than spreading the good news of God. The Bible tells us to show all people His love and He will draw them to Him. For decades now, the church has been playing games, with so-called evangelists twisting His word and putting on a show. Well, guess what, the world is crying out for the true and living God and they are not finding it in religious showmanship; they have more than enough actors on stage and screen. We need to be about repenting so we can get our names in the Book of Life, because "Time" shall also pass away.

  3. that is beautiful bluebutterfly and i would agree that we need to take our eyes off of this world and look up to Him and stop our words and mouths from condemning and accusing this world and begin to start praising and glorifying Him. Bless and not curse because though we worry sometimes about those we love doing things we know God is offended by and though we can get to the point of becoming disgusted with the things we see taking place in this world and just want it all to stop...we know that we would have never gotten to the point we are at had it not been for the constant forgiveness and mercy of our Heavenly Father who loved us enough not just to send His Son Jesus to die for us but to also raise Him from the dead giving us a guarantee that the sacrifice was worthy and accepted...too often we expect people to believe that Jesus died in their place but are unwilling to die in their place ourselves by holding onto our own pride and our own desire to prove we know Him instead of having a desire for them to know Him. God bless you Anne and BlueButterfly i pray you both have a great day in the Lord.

  4. I don't think it's a big deal... the fact that "the world" (those who live among us but whom we've been set apart from) doesn't recongnize Godly leadership. If there was a list of the 100 most influential people in the bringing the Gospel to "the world", how many people on the Time list would be on that one. God's ways are not the world's ways, so the world's way of evaluating God's influence are incapable of doing it appropriately. Lady Gaga is actually a perfect example of how the world evaluates influence... which just shows even more the reason for the people of God to keep doing what they're doing.

That aside, the Pope couldn't make the list because of the recent revelation he has spent a lifetime enabling baby bandits to thrive, and it would be too controversial to acknowlege his influence (it would affect magazine sales. They couldn't put anyone else above the pope because he still has the most influence. That is why I beleive there are no religious leaders or advocates on the list. That is just an example of the world editing God's influence based on the world's standards (magazine sales).

The voices of Faith are gaining clout, they are just losing magazine and news exposure. Why should the enemy promote the people of God when the people of God are trying to put take their influence away?

  5. The explicit version of Lady Gaga's "Telephone" was demonic, and that's not a label I pass out lightly or often. I can't quite look at her the same way anymore.

  6. As far as the pope, although he is leader over millions of Catholics, most are not OK with his positions on anything. Catholics use birth control, get abortions, divorce etc etc. So, the people and the pope are not on the same page. Maybe the same can be said of other religions?

Speaking to a lot of younger genration I find that the elders are less active and less vocal in the commuinty. Dont get me wrong there are alot of good going on in the church but the real work is done outside of the church walls and the pulpit. They are not practcing what the preach. While some of the pastors are wereing more gold and jewels and fancy suites like rappers and not reaching these kids that have no direction and no respect for them selfs and others but want to complain that musicans llike lady gaga are influencing the genration. My thing is churches stop trying to keep up with the jones and put your feet in the street and get your hands dirty try to change these young peoples life

  8. First, I believe that you will not see a preachers name on a list of influential people because it is the devil's influence in this world to make God insignificant.God is no longer in our schools and ungodly men are making it their duty to remove God from every public place in this country. I am not surprised the Pope wasn't on the list because of all these child molestation charges with the Catholic church. You can't signify God or godliness with them. I believe we will see more things absent of God now. Anything that is opposite of God is going to be glorified these days.
